Another Sneak Peak

Good Morning All!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.  I know I certainly did.  I spent the weekend relaxing with my husband and reading the last book of one of my favorite series by Anna Carven. The series is The Dark Planet Warriors. If you have kindle unlimited to can read the series for free.  If you like sci fi and love alpha males, you will love this series. It has action, it has giant bugs that need to be killed, it has an intergalactic coup happening, and of course romance.  So I spent my weekend finishing her last installment of the series. I do love a good sci fi romance.

One of my favorite things to do, besides writing, is to read and I read just about anything but my favorite genres are romance and sci fi, put them together and I’m happy.  “Ah but you didn’t write a sci fi novel,” you say. No, I did not.  I wrote a little drama with a smattering of romance and a good murder mystery which takes place in Regency England.  I came up with this story a very long time ago and I actually finished it about 5 years ago but didn’t have the nerve to publish it.   But last fall, a friend said to me, just do it already.  Who cares if no one likes it? What is the worst that could happen?  So, I set out to re-edit and re-edit and re-edit again and then took the plunge. Writers are rarely happy with the final product and are constantly finding mistakes and things to rewrite or add – and yes, I have already found a few mistakes and things I want to rewrite after I submitted the book for publication – but I had to say enough at some point or I would never have published. So what I published is what you get, mistakes and all.

Good News!  Someone actually read the whole book and wrote my first review.  The reader gave me five stars.  Yes, I know who the reader happens to be. But, I hadn’t expected the reader to read my novel or to give a review.  So it was a pleasant surprise when I saw the review. Thank you very much to the reader for the lovely review! It is very appreciated and reviews make it easier for people to find my book.  Amazon likes reviews! So if you like someone’s book that you purchased from Amazon, do the author a favor and write a review.  It doesn’t have to be long just a “great book” is good enough.  It helps them sell their book and inspires them to keep writing so you can keep reading.

Enough of my babbling. Now for what you have been waiting for! The next sneak peak of my book!  Last week I gave you a brief introduction to Brandon Cathcart, one of my favorite characters (well, they are all my favorites) and I thought I would showcase a conversation he and his brother, Nicholas, another sexy alpha male, have after Madeline, their sister and the heroine, has asked them to help her friend Joselyn.  So, here is a little tidbit:

“I wish Madeline was more like the other children.” Nicholas thought that perhaps if she tried to be more like Deirdre, shy, demure and obedient, she would have a happier life.
“You do realize, Nick, that Jared and Deirdre are no longer children,” Brandon commented, changing the subject. He hated it when Nicholas compared the spirited Madeline to Deirdre.
“They are barely out of the cradle,” Nicholas scoffed. He would never see Jared and Deirdre as a young man and a young woman coming into their own.
“They are eighteen and sixteen, Nick. You can’t ignore that they are growing up. Deirdre will have her coming out soon,” Brandon explained, having a hard time himself seeing his little sister all grown up.
Nicholas groaned at the prospect. “Great, as if I don’t have enough problems dealing with Maddy’s beaus.”
“That many?” Brandon smirked, knowing exactly how many beaus Madeline had and who they were. He knew of all the callers his brothers and sisters received. Brandon made it a point to be aware of their friends and associates and of the things they did. If he didn’t approve, he would step in and take care of the situation, using any means necessary.
“Too many,” Nicholas grumbled in aggravation.
“And what will you do when some man decides he wants her as you want Joselyn?” Brandon teased him.
“Kill him,” Nicholas uttered nonchalantly, tossing back his drink.
“Leave the killing to me, Nicholas,” Brandon said seriously. “If the wrong man tries to take Madeline, he will wish he hadn’t.”
Nicholas wasn’t quite sure how Brandon would respond to the man Madeline finally chose. He didn’t understand why she hadn’t chosen a husband and he understood even less that Brandon hadn’t chosen for her. Madeline was twenty-two and some would consider her reaching spinsterhood. Nicholas would make the decision himself if he hadn’t handed over the chore to Brandon years ago. He had given Brandon several suggestions that he considered good matches for Madeline, but Brandon disapproved of them all. At this point, Nicholas didn’t know what Brandon was going to do when a man claimed Madeline for himself, taking the matter out of both their hands. Curiosity getting the better of him, Nicholas asked, “And the right man?”
“I will deliver her to him, myself,” he smirked, pondering the possibility.

I hope you enjoyed that little snippet.  Until next time! Keep on reading!

Signs Snag!

Hey All!

So, I hit a snag.

I received my proof novel today. It is beautiful! However, they made a small booboo on the copyright page, which they have to fix and send me a new proof next week. It is not an end of the world snag, but I’m not sure why they made a change to my manuscript and a little irritated with myself for not noticing it sooner. Such is the way of things I guess.  So, it will take another week or two before the paper version is available. Also, the kindle version will need to be fixed so it will may be taken down for a day or two until they have it done. As of 10 minutes ago, it was still live so it may not take them long to make the change. For those of you who have already purchased the kindle version, it should automatically update for you when they have done it. If it doesn’t, check your kindle settings for updates.

This has not been the first mistake Createspace (the company used/owned by Amazon to help those of us who are terrible at creating covers and interior stuff to publish our books – and yes, we pay for it) has made during this publishing process, but the staff has been great and very helpful. And the upside, when it is their mistake, they own it, fix it and don’t make me pay for it. I only pay for my changes. They have done a superb job and it has been worth every penny I spent for their expertise to see my dream come true. Thank you Createspace and Kindle Direct Publishing and Amazon. It would have been much more difficult and expensive for me to publish my book without them.

Stop by over the weekend!

The next excerpt from Signs of Love and Deliverance will be coming soon to entice you to grab a copy of my book.  Go check out my facebook page under Tracy Kay if you haven’t already. Become a friend and have a chat with other readers.

Here’s a teaser:  One of my favorite alpha male characters in Signs is the tall, dark, green-eyed, powerful, and alluring Captain Brandon Cathcart. Not only is he the Captain of the Midnight Glory, the Marquess of Kenrik, the heir apparent of the Duke of Warlington, and a doctor, but he has sizzling sex appeal and has a sultry secret.  If you want to learn more about Brandon, go read, my pretties!

Signs of Love and Deliverance Excerpts

Hey Everyone!

Today, I am posting my first excerpt or two from Signs to titillate and inspire you to buy my soap opera like romance novel. There are some very hot and sexy alpha males to entice and excite you. The ladies stir up trouble and know how to kick ass when they need to. The villains will make your skin crawl and snarl with disgust.  I can guarantee this isn’t your cookie-cutter romance novel.  There is murder, there is mayhem, there is drama, there is romance, there is sex, there is mystery and suspense. There is even a little bit of kink thrown in for that extra alpha male hit the romance kinksters crave.  Welcome to the dark side of my mind.

Who is the killer? Will you be able to figure out who did it before the end? Is it really Lord Brumley or is it someone else? I would love to know when you learn who the killer is. Feel free to leave comments here or on my facebook page or pop me an email (the links are at the bottom of this page for convenience).

Yesterday, I had posted a little excerpt from the villain on my facebook page. Here is that excerpt:

“The man watched Madeline Cathcart enter the house across the road. He despised her, everything she was, and her relationship with Joselyn Parker. He shuddered with rage, flexing the hands he wanted to wrap around her neck and squeeze until there was no life left. He would kill her and he would enjoy it, as he enjoyed all his other kills.”

Yeah, he’s one scary guy!

Over the next week or so, I will be posting excepts from Signs here and on my facebook page to hopefully convince you to pick up a copy.  It is available now in kindle and in a few weeks it should be available in print. Also, it is available in kindle unlimited for those of you who are subscribed.  For those of you who don’t have kindle unlimited and can’t or don’t want to pay for the kindle version but still want it, I will be running a limited time promotional sometime this summer. I will announce it when I do.

In the meantime, here is another sneak peak at Signs:

Madeline smiled at Damon, hiding her irritation that Brandon felt she needed a guard. “Good evening, Captain Spencer. I do believe we have met a few years ago,” she greeted, offering her gloved hand. Although Damon was quite handsome, she couldn’t help but stare at his eyes. They were the color of amber and very intense, as if he could see right through her to her darkest secrets. His American accent had a soft drawl to it that gave his baritone voice a smooth quality that was pleasure to the senses. His hair was dark brown and clubbed at the back of his neck. She was tempted to put her hands through it to see if it felt as rich as it looked. She felt a flutter in her stomach and she had to take a deep breath to steady herself.

“Yes, I believe we have, Lady Madeline. It will be my pleasure to escort you this evening,” he replied, lifting her outstretched hand to his lips for a brief kiss. The last time he had met her, she had only begun blossoming into her own. She had turned into a lovely woman, he noted. “And please, call me Damon. No need for formalities.

“Damon, honestly, you don’t have to escort me this evening. I am sure Nicholas will be able to manage,” she suggested, pulling her hand out of his light grasp. She didn’t want this man watching her all night. Damon made her feel self-conscious and uncertain of herself, a very new experience for her. To her consternation, the man left her flustered and unsettled. Not to mention that Damon’s presence might ruin her plans of approaching one of the Farringtons, and that wouldn’t do at all.

“I am sure he could manage. Nevertheless, I will be attending,” Damon stated, ending any further argument she may have had.

I hope you enjoyed that little taste of Damon and Madeline. You can see this and perhaps other excerpts on my facebook page under Tracy Kay:  https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100016942413321

or drop me an email if you like at writer.tracykay@outlook.com

I don’t have a newsletter up and running yet, but I will work on that in the near future.  I also will be working on getting the meet the character page set up so you, my lovely readers, can check out some of my favorite quotes from the characters.  Write you later and have a fabulous day!
